Mission Statement

The mission statement of the "Reges" genre can be summed up as follows: "Role-Play your heart out!"

"Reges" was created as a role-playing environment--including an ardent attempt at creating a realistic history of the world--for players to come together and just have a good time. The genre was intended to be as realistic of an imaginary world (how's that for a paradox?) as possible without making the Role-Playing or IC (In-Character) factor obsolete. For instance, when a player casts a spell, the only OOC (Out-of-Character) result is that the description of the room has an extra line of text. That, essentially, does absolutely nothing to any player. But, it is up for the players themselves to "fill in the blank." How do they react to that string of text? How do they utilize that string of text in their role-playing? Would "casting a flame" mean anything in a room full of water elementals? Ad infinitum.

Consider the spells, money, non-player characters, items, etc. nothing more than means to facilitate Role-Playing, to spark the imagination, and to aid in creating a genre which serves as a stable foundation for flexible abd unhampered Role-Playing.

"Reges" was also created for maximum player independence from the "Genre Master." Players can do practically anything on the genre without ever having to speak to or request anything of the genre creator, which is why he likes to think of himself more as a "Genre Moderator" than a master.
