"Reges" is a fantasy role-playing world, complete with magic, "mythical" creatures, and a world of adventure, discovery, and imagination. It was created in the tradition of similar fantasy worlds, such as those of J.R.R. Tolkein in his Lord of the Rings series. "Reges" is a genre of the online role-playing game, Nameless MUCK.
MUCK is the acronym for a Multi-User Character Kingdom. A MUCK is an online role-playing game that creates an imaginary world in which players can take part. A MUCK is generally more flexible for players than a MUD (Multi-User Dimension) or other multi-user games, giving players the ability to build their own rooms and items, thus allowing them to create their own role-playing worlds; Nameless is a great example of such a MUCK. It is located at the telnet address nameless.muck.limitless.org (port 2600). Nameless MUCK enables players to create their own role-playing environments with "tremendous player flexibility and minimal management interference."
Nameless MUCK gives players the ability to build their own sub-worlds called regions. When regions are used as genres, the player's RP environment "would be over-all the closest equivalent to staff that most games would think of." More information on Nameless MUCK can be found at http://members.limitless.org/~nameless.
The "Reges" genre was first started in the summer of 1998 by the Nameless MUCK player Zeno, or Samuel Lam. Nearly everything in the region utilizes the scripting/programming language, MPI (Message Parsing Interpreter, a.k.a. My Personal Insanity).
